Quilcene Fish Hatchery Seismic and Life Safety Upgrades
Art Anderson Associates is providing engineering services for a project to design seismic and safety upgrades to the Quilcene National Fish Hatchery. The hatchery building does not meet current seismic building and safety standards. The $330K project, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), will bring the facility up to code, correct deficiencies and provide a safe environment for workers and visitors.
Art Anderson Associates performed the design work as a task under a master agreement with Cascade Design Professionals (CDP), which holds an IDIQ contract with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. We were responsible for providing schematic designs, construction documents and construction support services for a variety of project tasks. These include lighting replacement, crew room/toilet renovation, window/door replacement, electrical troubleshooting, domestic water piping replacement, attic ventilation re-routing, ADA access issues, baseboard heater replacement and fire alarm system investigation.
Our design-phase services included development of cost estimates, base drawing development, confirmation of as-built conditions, and preparation of 75%, 95% and Final construction documents. For the construction phase, we participated in pre-construction meetings, performed a baseline site inspection, regular architectural and mechanical inspections, final inspection and coordination of contractor RFIs and submittal documents.
